This elegant, bell-shaped cowl starts narrower at the neck, then spreads out, ending with a delicate picot edge. It can be worn wide over your shoulders or pulled in for a draped look. And with contrasting garter stripes, you can play with color – go bold or keep it subtle.

SUGGESTED YARN

Huephoria Fibers Student Council DK, 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon, 246 yds/100 g skein, 2 skeins (Main Color [MC])

Huephoria Fibers Shiver 5-Skein Mini Set (Student Council DK), 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon, 49 yds/20 g mini skein, 5 mini skeins (Contrast Colors [CC] 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5).

Sample shown in “One Way or Another” (MC) and “Dweezil” mini skein set (CCs 1-5).

Yarn substitution notes:

You’ll need a DK weight yarn 200 g (approximately 492 yards) for the MC, and 5 mini skeins, 20 g (approximately 49 yards each) for the CCs. Color of CC bands should contrast against MC. If you prefer to work the CC bands in a single color, 100 g of a contrasting DK weight yarn can be used in place of the 5 mini skeins. This pattern is designed with wool or a wool blend in mind so that the finished garment will hold its shape and show off the lace after blocking.

SUGGESTED NEEDLES

US 7/4.5 mm 16” (40 cm) and 24” (60 cm) circular needles, or whatever size you need to achieve gauge

The colorful and lightweight Chromatic Lace Wrap is designed for makers who love a project that’s both meditative and engaging. It’s perfect for using up leftover scraps or those special mini skeins from an advent calendar you’ve been saving. Featuring a mix of open lacework and bold pops of color, the wrap is airy enough for year-round wear but provides an extra layer of warmth when the temperatures dip. Have fun mixing and matching colors to create a piece that’s uniquely yours!

Yarn Notes: DK weight yarn (weight 3), 300 g / 738 yds / 675 m; MC = Main Color, 200 g / 492 yds / 450 m; CC = Contrasting Color, 100 g / 245 yds / 225 m. Estimates include a 5% buffer in yardage. A yarn with good drape that easily grows when blocked is highly recommended. Yarns containing superwash merino, silk, or alpaca are ideal.
