Description

Fall Transitional Layer: Clova Slipover by Ysolda Teague

Let’s knit a vest! Ysolda’s Clova Slipover is a unisex, size-inclusive piece perfect for layering or wearing on its own. With a classic neckline and optional bust darts in FOUR cups sizes, the slipover is set to be exactly the kind of fit that you want. Interested in color blocking or stripes? Feel free to do that too!

This class is designed for adventurous beginners, or those who have knit at least one sweater yet are still looking for teacher and group support as they tackle another project. Let’s knit through the pattern together over several weeks, with some time built between classes to make progress.

We will be learning techniques such as: German short rows, directional increases and decreases, bust darts, picking up stitches, etc.

You will need to purchase the Clova Slipover pattern in addition to signing up for the class.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of knits and purls, increasing, decreasing, etc. Some skill in sweater knitting including swatching for gauge and choosing sizes will be helpful, but if this will be your first sweater, we’ll help get you going!

YARN

This is a worsted/aran weight vest. Gauge is 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches
in stocking stitch. One strand of heavy worsted or aran weight should get you gauge; but you can also hold two or more strands of lighter weight yarns together as well.

HOMEWORK

Please come to the first class with at least one gauge swatch completed and blocked. We will walk through the sizing and bust dart options in class one.
