Rigid Heddle Weaving Basics
Description
***This class will be held inside. Masks will be required. Thank you!***
Learn to weave a scarf in just a few hours! This two part class walks you through a variety of 'w' words as you learn the basics of weaving:
- how to set up and warp a rigid heddle loom
- how to choose your warp and weft
- the mechanics of weaving
- different ways to finish your piece
By the end of the class you'll have a completed scarf (not bad for a week, eh?). This is an introductory class that is great for all skill levels.
Note: Loom rental ($25) or your own loom is required. Ashford looms may be preordered through us up to three weeks prior to class. Please call, email, or come in for additional information about purchasing a loom. If you rent, and then purchase a loom after the second class, your rental cost will be credited toward your purchase.
You will need to bring in or purchase warp yarn no later than one week prior to the first class so that looms can be pre-warped. You can do this online or over the phone if you don't want to come in before class. You will receive more detailed information upon signing up for the class.
Personal looms (not rentals) will need to be brought in to the shop at least one week prior to the first class.
