Giving to Good Causes

At Seattle Yarn, community means everything to us, and we try to do our part to make our community better. When you support our small business, you help us do more, and we are so grateful for that!

QUARTERLY DONATION

As of 2025, we will donate 1% of our net proceeds (sales, minus fees and taxes) quarterly to a non-profit, mutual aid, or charitable organization that is doing good work locally or nationally. We are looking into creating an optional add-on or round-up donation opportunity for customers as well, but that is not implemented yet. 

For the first quarter of 2025, we have chosen to direct our donations to Lambda Legal. Lambda Legal works both in the courts and in government policy advocacy to defend the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and people with HIV. This is work we believe to be particularly critical in this moment, and we are proud to support them. We encourage you to learn more about what Lambda Legal does, and to support them further if you can.

WARM CLOTHING DRIVE 

Now through February 14th, we are collecting warm clothing on behalf of WashMasks Mutual Aid, as part of their annual Heart of Washington Winter Clothing Drive drive for Washington farmworkers and their families. Let us come together as a community to show our gratitude to those who feed us: Washington's phenomenal farm workers!

We are collecting winter clothing. YES, hand-knit, hand-crocheted, and hand-woven items are welcome, loved, and appreciated! If you are making items for donation, please use warm and machine washable fibers. Thank you!

Coats; Sweaters/Sweatshirts/Hoodies; Hats; Gloves; Scarves; New socks; Work boots; Emergency hand and feet warmers

*All clothing items must be clean, gently used, or new, please do not give us items that are torn, dirty, or heavily used. Please no used socks and no underwear*
